The newest Weyr to be built, Senkai Island Weyr is built by the bay between two islands and is on the Western Island facing east. A long dormant volcano is to the north of the Weyr. The mountain range is large and with very little snow on the mountains except on the very top, the Weyr is built out of the mountain range and volcano. Senkai Island Weyr has a very long growing season and very mild winters with little snow. Within the mountains are many fields with great growing potential. They can usually have two growing seasons within the turn and have only roughly two months of winter. There is a large river that leads from the mountains to pool into the ocean for the fresh water. It is deep in the ocean between the two islands and rocky. There have been underwater stations built for the Blue dragons and sea-whers to watch all around the island for intruding Valde ships. There is also upcoming technology so that way their riders can breathe underwater. The second Eastern island is used more for crops, since there are more fields there as well as the main grazing area for their herdbeasts. There are stations underwater and on land around the entire island to make sure that no Valde will invade. There are guard dragon weyrs on the parts of the island and the guard dragons cycle out and stay there to watch for the invaders. This spot was chosen as the second Weyr foundation because of the volcano’s extensive tunnel and cave system which meant less work for half the weyrs. The only way to see the Weyr is to be directly above it or in the bay between it, another reason it was chosen.
As a point of interest, Senkai is a Japanese word that means revolution, rotation and/or turning. It also means a shallow sea or a dwelling place of hermits. This word was chosen for the Weyr's name because the founders hoped that the foundation of the second Weyr would be a turning point in the war and the alternative translations for the word also fit in with the weyr.
