In the solar system there are many undiscovered and unsearched universes. In one universe, there was a warrior planet. People lived there, massive people who were adventurers…and destroyers. They are the Valde, a race that many centuries ago in their time perfected their technology and their fighting ability, to the point that their technology, not that anyone knew it, was the top line of technology in all universes. Many planets resented and envied the Valde for their closed economy and their refusal to share their secrets. Finally, out of jealousy and belief that the Valde’s reputation was all lies, a nearby planet started a war with them, the Veinzer. They attacked the head city of the Valde with their best fighters.
They were annihilated within a Valden year. This put a new thought into the ruler’s heads. If they could take down one planet, why couldn’t they take down more and make the Valde the superior race, after all it was survival of the fittest as a rule in their own planet…it could be a rule for the solar system. So they prepared for war…on every planet and every universe in the galaxy. Within ten Valden years they already controlled three new planets, each which had a different resource to add onto the Valde’s warships. Then they turned their gaze to a new prize: the fire-stone of Pern, which had been found after AIVAS deep in the Northern mountains. This burning rock could be more then crucial to them, for fuel and for fighting purposes. So they armed an attack.
But Pern had its own problems. The Pernese had gone through a rough last ten turns. There had been more natural disasters than remembered, dragons died continuously of flu, fire-lizards became near extinct and the same with watch-whers, however the humans were thriving. There was only one dragon Weyr left, Southern Weyr and it had only two queens and five bronzes with the other colors…it was a sad day for the dragon-rider’s of Pern, with their dragons dying off so quickly. However with no more Thread, the Pernese weren’t concerned about the dying dragons.
Then a plague swept the land, killing all but the young and middle-aged dragons. It killed nearly a thousand head of dragons and riders and more Pernese than one could count. And when it was over, they were left with five Weyrs: Fort Weyr, Benden Weyr, Monaco Bay Weyr, Ista Weyr and Southern Weyr. Watch-whers had nearly gone extinct, with only a few queens left and most of them wild. Fire-lizards too nearly went extinct.
When the Valde struck they struck with no warning at Fort Weyr. Soon terror swept over the entire land and in panic for their beloved species, the Senior Weyrwoman and Weyrleader took their dragons and disappeared-in secret with Southern Weyr’s population of Weyrfolk-without a trace. Bombs had been set all over the small world of Pern so it was thought that perhaps the dragons were killed with the bombs. The other four Weyrs were destroyed, the Valde having little interest in their bloodlust in the species of dragons. It was only after that they thought to keep them…and at that time it was too late, the Pernese were thankful of that.
The Valde took over with little to no resistance. Pern was completely taken over by the monstrous people. Who seemed to have no souls, no hearts…no compassion or at least the warriors did. Soon the Valde had even brought over some colonists from their own countries, the Pernese were bottom class…treated no better than slaves. They were slaves, stripped of their honor and their happiness, sent to encampments and mining camps, forced to search for whatever fire-stone was left.
And in secret, Weyrwoman Trella and Weyrleader V’ral, with their three hundred dragons started over from scratch…in the South Barrier Mountains, unknown to their people and most importantly by the Valde. They made another Weyr, dubbed Hidden Mountain Weyr deep in the mountains. And there they were forced to thrive, stealing carefully from the Valde so that they could start over. They built a Weyr that any would be proud to call their own. Through their reign, no one was allowed outside the mountains. They built technology that could withstand the Valde’s screening processes and satellites and they remained in secret, a hidden organization.
For a hundred turns this went on, no one daring to fight back…no one having the weapons to fight back. The dragonriders lay silent in their new Weyr, most of their dragonets going between, making the Southern Mountains their home. The new Weyrleader, Bronzerider R’lan slowly began to raid the Valde after their first sixty turns after invasion. Weyrwoman Trianna supported his decision, as they stole from the Valde, freeing Pernese to live with them.
Trianna’s Gold Sassth had just laid a clutch with a valid queen egg in her old age when the plague swept them yet again. It killed her, her Weyrleader and over three quarters of their dragons. Leaving only the clutch and leaving only twelve dragons alive. Only twelve dragons Impressed from her last clutch, all of them since her clutch had been petite. This was in Turn 98 of the Invasion.
For two turns this queen grew, with only three Bronzes and five Browns left to attempt to catch her. And she flew after the two turns, caught by a new Bronze from her own clutch. This new Weyrleader had been kidnapped from a Valde encampment and Impressed his Bronze and he was determined to fight back. Once again small raids were started on the smallest of encampments, taking the captives and disappearing into the night. The new Weyrleader was determined to strike back and he was, slowly and surely.
Soon after the Flight, a month and a half after the queen’s Flight, there was a terrible explosion just a couple miles away from Hidden Mountain Weyr and they feared the worst. For three days all activity stopped and they hid away from it, until the Weyrleader finally allowed for someone to investigate. They found a spaceship and in curiosity they cracked it open.
Inside were warning signs all in Terran, which none could read…warnings of toxic compounds and convicts that had been set away from the planet Earth for fear of the hundred convicts inside the ship. These hundred convict’s crimes ranged from stealing to coldblooded murder. Earth had become overrun and the people of Earth decided to start sending spaceships filled with convicts out to space, what became of them was not their concern. But this spaceship had special convicts, for they had been experimented on by a scientist, tortured and blooded as their DNA was forced to change and mutate giving these convicts…mutations. Anything from physical mutations to mental mutations…from pyrokinesis to having physical traits of a dog. The scientist did this illegally and in terror of what he did, the Earthian’s put him, the convicts and the vials of toxins into the spaceship and sent them off. Horrified at their discovery, the dragonriders were going to slay the drugged convicts when their Weyrleader paused their strokes. If they could manipulate what was in the convicts DNA…then they could make the dragons stronger, more powerful!
So they woke the convicts and made a deal with them. A new life for those who wanted to start over, battles for the bloodthirsty and the convicts took their deal. Their leader of sorts, Richard B. Riddick, accepted their deal and issued for two convicts, Kitte Tinker, a convict who understood and could manipulate technology to increase security around the Weyr and _________, a convict who could understand any language introduced to him(her)self to start to teach the others Pernese well the scientist Lucien Hathaway inserted the egg-heavy queen with an injection to make strange beings of dragons. What would come of these injections he could not say. The Weyrlingmaster’s queen was also injected.
From these injections arose powerful dragons. The first of which were the Massive and Valiant Indigos, the vain and prideful Sapphire queens and so on down the line. Convicts Impressed as did refugees. The fire-lizards also had new colors and a new queen. Throughout the next two turns came more clutches, new colors until the Sapphire queen rose and was caught by Fuchsia Xytath. There were three queens joined by two more from the Sapphire’s clutch and the queens and dragons were getting cramped. So a new project set forth, to make a new Weyr.
Construction of this Weyr started on the largest western island and soon it was called Senkai Island Weyr, named by its Weyrwoman, Sapphirerider Rina Saito, a convict. Wild watch-whers were discovered throughout this time and Lucien injected the eggs as well. Out of a clutch of sixteen only six stumbled forward, one the great Octarine queen Risk who bonded to Richard B. Riddick. The watch-whers began to train for wings in Turn 107 and joined the Pernese Rebellion Army in full force.
There has been open war declared for the past three turns and when the Pernese Rebellion Army started to turn the Pernese against the Valde, the Valde called in reinforcements. In the beginning of Turn 108, the Pernese Rebellion Army had full control over the South-West and was reaching from the South Sea all the way to the Azov Sea. Well dragons and watch-whers weren’t left out during that time and always returned to the Weyr at night, the Valde had retreated almost fully to the North Continent until the arrival of five hundred thousand Valde and the twin leaders.
Supernatural and overly powerful, Renaldo and Rosalinda are over four hundred turns old and are both a God in the eye of their people. Since their arrival, things have turned to the worst for the Pernese. Fellow dragonriders and wherhandlers were captured. A dragon queen, Charcoal Inannath and her rider Magne from Senkai Island Weyr were captured with twenty-nine other dragons. Two watch-wher queens were captured. The Valde set up their own Weyr and Den, Fort Weyr and Fort Den and they are waiting for Inannath and the watch-wher queens to Fly. Their own scientists have done weird experiments to the queens and now wait impatiently for their Flights and the children, well the Pernese fight to get their queens back before the worst comes to worst…Valde riding dragons!
Not to mention what Lucien Hathaway has been busy doing. For the past seven turns he has been nurturing the mutant dolphins and whales and now there are many of them, all breeding and bonded, ready for the water battles. Then there is the Valde scientists who tried to dabble in genetics and started to produce bondable wargs, lion like animals that are large enough to carry a Valde on its back and carry them into battle. Well many strange and mysterious beasts have been created, the Scientist Lucien hasn’t arisen to continue the genetics battle, and though it is rumored his lab is holding many scary creatures. However right now it’s the focus on the Valde scientists who have been doing regular injections to Charcoal Inannath.
Now it is the rush to save the queen before she gives them a clutch…but without any idea where she is being held or how to get around the hundreds guarding her, they don’t know what to do. Will they keep the Valde from getting dragons on their side? Or will they lose the skies to their enemies?
